Xemplo can check a worker's eligibility to work in the specific country using the Work Rights feature. Information you need to provide later varies depending on the company's country. This guide will focus on managing work rights for workers based in Hong Kong.
You can add or update work rights:
For new workers:
- During onboarding by the Worker or a Client user, and ;
- Manual entry of the worker's information by the Client user.
For existing workers:
- Update the worker profile on the worker dashboard in Xemplo, by the Worker or the Client User, and;
- MyXemplo Mobile App by the worker.
How to Add Work Rights During Onboarding
Step 1. In the Work Rights section of the onboarding process, provide the necessary information:
- Type of Document - workers provide these supporting documents to verify their work rights, they can choose to submit:
- Valid passport, or
- Valid Hong Kong ID
- Passport or HKID Number
- Country of Passport - the location where the passport is issued.
- Date Issued - when the passport was issued.
- Expiry Date - when will the passport expires.
- Copy of document - uploaded chosen document
Step 2. Ensure to upload a clear copy of the specified document.
Step 3. Click Save. Work Rights is successfully added.
A worker can have multiple Work Rights documents. It varies on the company and location requirements in verifying their work eligibility. We'll discuss more it in the next section.
How to Manage Work Rights
Adding, Editing, Renewing, and Deleting are options you can do to a worker's Work Rights to ensure worker is up-to-date and complies with the work requirements based on location.
Below are the instructions on how to manage Work Rights for an existing worker in Xemplo.
Step 1. Log in to Xemplo.
Step 2. Access worker dashboard:
As a Worker
On the left-hand corner of the page, click the drop-down menu, and click My Profile.
As a Client
Click the Worker tab, search for the worker you want to manage, and click their profile. Then, click the Credentials tab.
Step 3. Go to the Work Rights section, click the menu button and choose the option:
Add Work Right
For adding multiple Work Rights, click the option menu (...) at the top right of the Work Rights section, then select Add work right.
A pop-up window will appear and enter the following information for the new Work Right.

Click Save.
Renew or Edit Work Right
You can update the information to a Work Rights or renew for expiring ones for existing workers in Xemplo.
Select Renew or Edit to the corresponding work right you wish to update.
You can update the information to the following:
- Type of Document - workers provide these supporting documents to verify their work rights, they can choose to submit:
- Valid passport, or
- Valid Hong Kong ID
- Passport or HKID Number
- Country of Passport - the location where the passport is issued.
- Date Issued - when the passport was issued.
- Expiry Date - when will the passport expires.
- Copy of document - uploaded chosen document
Click the Save button to replace the old copy with the most recent Work Right information. A notification is sent out to the worker for any changes or renewals of a Work Right.
Delete Work Rights
Choose Delete from the drop-down option. A pop-up window will appear, click Yes to confirm.
